Shangri-La Hotel Qaryat Al Beri, Abu Dhabi

We just returned from 6 days on Shangri-La Abu Dhabi. It was extraordinarily, the place is one of the best we've been in the world (and we've been in many). Room (we had a simple one) was good for a family (with a 10 yr kid), bath is enormous and well segmented, great view to the Grand Mosque and canal, great beach, pool, incredible rich breakfast buffet, I believe they missed just caviar :-). Also dine on the Chinese restaurant and had the brunch with brazilian dancers and singers ... all great experiences. BUT the most important are people that made us felt CARED ! I wanted to put some names but they added, people from the restaurant, starting with manager to each of them, on the beach, the Concierge - so helpful to explain where to go, what to do, provide advises. Last but not least, the reception which let us to stay in the residence after checking out till our late flight. By the way, if I'll be back - I'll choose residence for a longer stay, the apartment was great, it's part of the hotel with separate beaches, pools, playgrounds but you ca also access the hotel facilities. Did I mentioned they have their own mini-mall (souk) where you find good restaurants and some nice shops, just walking 3 minutes in the hotel OR being taken by a private abra ? You feel like you have your own Venice Have to stop but I conclude by saying next trip we'll check first for Shangri-La, even if little more expensive and than other choices. So sad they do not have a Maldives hotel ...

Well, nothing is perfect in paradise. Fruits section always busy in the morning, one day really blocked for 15 minutes. We noticed the restaurant management, they took measures, reorganized the flow, explained the problem and ... offered us a small gift. It was really something understandable, a little annoying to stay around for 5-10 minutes waiting for fruits but minor compared with abundance of the breakfast. Impressive was the reaction. So, ask whatever you need, they'll try to solve or help somehow. Thank YOU ladies and gents from Shangri-La, you made a memorable experience for us!

The club lounge menu could be improved. Not much in the way of food in the afternoon, just a few cakes. Unfortunately, cereal at breakfast was stale.

Buffet selection was excellent. Head Chef and restaurant staff were very helpful and attentive. Concierge and front desk requests were quickly attended, too. Nice property and very friendly and helpful staff. Location and views on the canal beautiful.

The staff exceeded our expectations. During our stay at the hotel, one person in our group celebrated his birthday. We received a complementary cake with candles at the restaurant, and the housekeeping team provided a little surprise in the room with balloons and a small gift. We will definitely return to Shangri La Qaryat Al Beri soon.

This is a true 5-star Shangri-La experience! The staff are overly friendly and exceed expectations. We were offered an upgrade at a fair price and it was totally worth it! Not only did it include the buffet breakfast and access to the Horizon club lounge where you have morning & afternoon tea and happy hour offering unlimited drinks and a light buffet dinner, but we got a very early check-in and very late check-out and a magnificent view of the Grand Mosque :-) They have the best bedding ever - it's like sleeping on clouds. Still water is free in the room. Everyone was amazing - Fatima from Reception, Jane - the Manager from the Horizon lounge, Gleb who seemed to be in all restaurants, the room cleaning staff, the concierge, the guys at the pool. Can't wait to go back to see these people in this luxurious location! They truly make you feel like a star. Dubai is so over-rated - go to Abu Dhabi if you want value for money and quiet luxury.

On busy Sundays, the buffet breakfast staff at the soup & poached eggs station don't cope.

Front staff is rather slow. Also communication before the arrival was not on the top. Why to ask approximate arrival time if when you answer at 2pm (which is check in time), you get a response "we will do all possible to accommodate you request, subject of availability".. I have paid for the stay, how the room may be not available?

I stayed for one night and definitely I will come back so nice hotel luxury and you can enjoy your time and it’s quiet no noise which is the important thing for me . Excellent view to sea and so beautiful balcony

Access card wouldn’t work, had to be placed in slot back to front. Engineer sorted in a timely manner and was really professional.

Staff very helpful and enthusiastic about their roles. Great swimming/sunbathing options. It's a quiet location so great for relaxation. Bedrooms spotlessly clean; linens, bathrobes and bathroom products fresh. Having a functional balcony is what sets this place apart.

Dining was supposed to be smart casual but most didn't bother which is a shame as the settings are definitely 5 star.

Facilities already a bit old but very well maintained and customer service covers it all up - you hardly notice.

The place is just prefect. The staff are very friendly and attentive, especially the gondolier Raheem, who has taken us on a gindola ride.

Really the most excellent, friendly staff! Great pool and loved the room on the ground floor located next to the pool as we were traveling with our baby.

Spa did not accommodate men and women together in the jacuzzi. I appreciate the culture but this is a hotel and not for residents of the country entirely. Staff level of English was mixed

Our stay was absolutely fantastic from start to finish! Everybody was so professional and kind, from staff from the reception, bar, restaurant, beach to service .. everybody! And food? Amazing! Selection of food was crazy! We did not know what to choose! Everything, I mean everything was so delicious and good looking. We had breakfast, lunch and dinner. I was speechless! We enjoyed in every bite we had! Private beach and the service from the beach was exceptional! And for me, the most amazing were sunsets from my room and the view! I miss the view already! Honestly I can't wait to be back! Shangri-La, you did a great job! Well done!

Breakfast choice was superb. The staff were exceptional.

The hotel could have communicated its facilities - restaurants, bars, gym etc a little better as they were excellent.

The location was central and good for the Grand Mosque in particular. We had garden rooms which were lovely, with a private terrace and view of the beach and beyond. The infinity pool was great and the pool area very relaxed. We had coffee and croissant there instead of a full breakfast. Staff were all friendly and helpful.

A little updating would make the rooms even more attractive.
