The Charles Hotel Harvard Square, Boston

Beautiful hotel and location. Nice to walk around and many dining options.

The rooms are very small for the price and A/C was very weak in our room. The hallways felt better than the room. Sleeping comfort was not there.

Location is perfect for Reunion stays. Festive atmosphere. Lots of plugs to charge your phone while waiting.

I had made this booking almost a year before, once the dates for our reunion were announced. However, it was so full that I couldn't change the type of room into two double beds instead of one bed. I was told by the hotel that I have to redo the booking at booking.com which would have been impossible at that time as the hotel was oversold.

The Charles Hotel is a gracious hotel with a boutique feel, nice amenities and an unbeatable location on the Charles River in Harvard Square. We are a family of five with bigger kids and ended up staying in a spacious suite that was large enough for us to enjoy hanging out in our room when we wanted quiet down time. The lobby also has several cozy corners to enjoy. We also made use of the parking available, which was very helpful as relying on street parking is not an option in Harvard Square. The staff was very friendly and helpful with packages that arrived for us and other requests and the housekeeping was impeccable.

There was a misunderstanding about our reservation and we were initially booked in a room that did not have enough beds for us. This was despite our having called specifically to confirm that the five of us could be accommodated and having received reassurance that all was well. This resulted in some delays and awkwardness when we checked in and got to our room. While the staff was attentive in sorting our options, we were disappointed that no one offered an apology for what was clearly an error on the part of the hotel and resulted in our having to pay more for our accommodations then we were expecting. Everyone we spoke with clearly wanted to help and resolve the situation, but the lack of a simple apology was disappointing. Ultimately, we did end up in a perfect room for us and very much enjoyed our stay and would definitely consider staying at The Charles for future visits to Cambridge.

Everything was fine. Nice freebies in the room or delivered there. For me, a great location.

Cambridge is expensive and so is this hotel; not unexpected. Disappointed the Regatta Bar is still closed.

We love it all. It's the perfect location for us when dropping our kid off at school or enjoying the Head of the Charles weekend. The beds are super comfy. The staff is always friendly. It's around the corner from Flour, our favorite bakery. The best thing is, though, they take dogs regardless of size, and still manage to keep things sparkling clean!

The location is unbeatable for exploring Cambridge and the area around Harvard. The breakfast at Henrietta's Table is excellent, though pricey. We ate outside each morning, and we also had one dinner there which was a lovely evening. The hotel has a car park which was convenient.

The room was very comfortable, but a little tight for us with 2 adults and 2 young kids. There's not much for vegetarians on the evening menu. We travelled by EV, and the car park/valet didn't have the connecting plug to re-charge, so we had to find somewhere else to charge before we left.

The key never seems to work the elevator properly, and apparently u need it to work the lights in the room too, which we never knew and it was dark 🤣

Centric and nice hotel

The hotel is in the middle of everything, close to the T and is impeccably maintained. Great place to stay!

Absolutely fabulous location . Clean , luxurious room. Great common areas. They were nice about late check out.

Pricey, and I would have expected maid service at that price point. Person who checked is in at front desk was a little rude.

The air conditioning is turned off automatically in the middle of the night. No way to turn it back on. Too hot.
