The B.I.G Backpackers Hostel, Cape Town

Good location. Great friendly staff, that really showed that they cared for us and for our good time in Cape Town. Healthy breakfast. Clean and comfortable!

The only little thing is that one of the rooms (the 3 person shared bedroom) is very close to the kitchen and could perhaps need a better door to isolate the sounds better, as at 7am you can already hear the noise. But I would still stay in this place again as everything else was just great.

Extremely nice owners :). The beds are soooo comfy. And the breakfast is really good.

Very clean, friendly staff (Jocelyn was so lovely and helpful) comfortable bed and very very clean. All the staff at breakfast and dinner were really great. Safe and secure area.

The hostel mentions load shedding doesn’t impact the hostel but there were issues with this every night i was there. It was very dark when this happened.

Staff were friendly and helpful. They organise lots of events that you can choose to do. Room was big and bed was so comfortable. We loved the breakfast! The Big is located in a great part of Cape Town , we felt safe walking around.

Very comfortable and clean. The best part about this place is the way it is managed. Joceline, Layla and Atti were lovely to talk too and I enjoyed the activities organized by them at the Big and Curiocity. The swimming pool is nice to have and is very well maintained. The electric blankets in rooms are a life saver on cold evening. I loved that they have Netflix in the living room so that I could relax and enjoy my evenings if and when I felt like staying indoors. I liked that the staff went over and beyond to ensure the safety of residents, gave good recommendations and they also remembered to make note of things like the tours that I had booked with another tour aganecy and provided me updates on cancellations, pickup times, etc.

Comfortable and homey place in a safe location. The breakfast buffet is one of my best I've had in a hostel.

The dorm room was a bit smaller than expected.

As some describe it, you cannot call this a hostel but rather a hotel with community living. Magnificent decoration, modern and welcoming, with great taste. We appreciated this spirit of sharing common areas, the possibility of being able to use the kitchen, being able to help ourselves to fresh drinks in the fridge, the breakfast area in the morning and the useful advice from very friendly staff available. The room was spacious and comfortable, with the necessary privacy. The accommodation is located within walking distance of the WaterFront, which helps in getting around easily.

We didn't understand that the bathroom would be separate from the bedroom, not a big problem but perhaps slippers and a bathrobe could be provided for crossing the common areas between the two.

Super nice hostel, to us it hasn’t felt like one, but more like a cozy hotel, with beautiful deco, a pool, very friendly hosts. The bed is super comfy, the breakfast always rich in fruits etc The location is perfect, exactly in the middle of the two city centres (if that makes sense). Despite that it was calm at night.

If you’re located in the main building, you will hear the voices of the others having breakfast downstairs, overall poor isolation

Such a warm and welcoming place, it does feel like a big and caring family. On our first night there was a lovely braai, the perfect opportunity to meet fellow travellers. Breakfast is plenty and yummy.

How it’s an open environment, but you have privacy as well. The facilities are great. Our rooms were spotless and tidy clean when we came back everyday. And how safe and secure the property is. Also the honesty fridge is a great touch, being able to grab a drink whenever was very ideal.

I’m really struggling to find anything bad about the property. However at night during the time we came it got super cold, but once we found the electric blankets everything was fine. Maybe just emphasise that they are there if needed.

Amazing amazing stay. Stayed in the all female room. 3 beds, comfortable matras, big lockers (bring your own lock), big bathroom. The quality of the furniture is of the highest. Lots of work space. The staff is super friendly. Cannot recommend this place enough. Electric lock on all rooms.

Everything was exceptional. Note that breakfast is continental and not full breakfast.

There is no bar fridge in the room. As runners, we need to keep our hydration stuff and booster drinks cold hey.

Place is close by to everything. Staff very friendly and proactive (Ntombi). Neat

It was homey and friendly. I liked having breakfast with the other guests and exchanging tourist ideas.

The scatter rug in my room was on a smith painted concrete surface and was so slippery I fell when I first came in and then I removed the rug.

The staff and the vibe at the hostel were exeptional.

The property was cold in general, I’ve not seen any ACs or anything but there’s a fireplace in the common area. The bed has an electric blanket so it wasn’t a big of a deal for me.

Incredible! Breakfast was great, helpful staff, very safe neighbourhood within walking distance to everything you need. Would stay again here for sure.

We felt like home indeed. All started with a hearty welcome and the breakfast talks were just nice. Staff gave very helpful tips and safety recommendations so we had a perfect stay. Even during cold days, the electric blankets give you a good sleep.

Not provision to make dinner/ supper and lack of variety in the breakfast like sausages & bacon even if controlled.

Best hostel I have been at so far. Nice design that feels like home. I felt safe 24/7 in this property and neighborhood. It is great for solo traveler as you might meet other people like you. The staff is amazing - kudos to you! Thank you for making my stay incredible! :)
