The Sam Hotel Curio Collection by Hilton, Houston

The room was spacious and very clean. The bed was very comfortable. The hotel bar was welcoming and the bartender great.

Parking was difficult to figure out if you didn't want to do the valet parking.

Homeless people everywhere and it was dangerous just getting your luggage out of vehicle. Your view outside your window from hotel was homeless people.

the hotel is not clean, it smells strongly. we all ended up with a backache due to the beds conditions. We did not have hot water in the room, which the hotel staff which advised they will send maintenance, but no one arrived to even take a look. The coffee machine in the room sprayed all over, when asked to replace it we got a machine that did not work at all and it was also replaced with another machine that did not work. Funny enough to get a replacement machine to begin with, we had to carry it personally to the reception. as for the parking, the hotel only offers Valet parking and there is no self parking option. The location is problematic as well!!! be careful !!! the hotel is surrounded by homeless. as it the entire neighborhood was of homeless people

The evening bartender wasn’t attentive. Also, we had to wait 30 minutes before the restaurant could service us because it was between breakfast and lunch time (11:00 AM - 11:30 AM). We had arrived to the restaurant at 11:05 AM.

Everyone was polite and helpful, and the hotel itself felt quaint and tucked away downtown.

breakfast was not included at all and the front desk person was argumentative about a confirmed reservation that i had blatantly showed her on my phone. charged me the same as my online reservation within none of the percs that came with the online booking.

Bathroom was nice.

Property is located next to a homeless shelter. I did not feel our family was safe in this area. Hotel rooms were very small. No mini fridge. It was a 12 min walk to Minute Maid. again, did not feel safe enough to walk. Found an old eyelash curler on the floor from the last person. soap dish was dirty. Mirror was cracked and dirty

I loved that the property was at the head of downtown. it was walking distance to a lot of great restaurants. I also loved the valet service it was worth the price. The people who worked the front desk were some of the best I have ever met and the bartender was also great! We always ended our night at the bar and the drinks as well as the conversation were wonderful.

I wish I had a better view of the city because our room was on the 4th floor and blocked by a tree but other than that it was great!

Mattress was relatively new. Pillows were firm and plentiful. There were plenty of outlets and USB plugs in the room.

The courthouse district is barren and nothing is walkable — especially when the temps reach into the high nineties. This becomes especially challenging when you’re dealing with valet parking only. Without a self park option, you’re forced to use rideshares unless you’re willing to eat in the barely adequate hotel restaurant. The property is a bit long in the tooth in spite of numerous cosmetic upgrades. And the hot water was barely hot while the cold water was barely cold.

The room and area which was downtown

The noise from the surrounding night clubs and or restaurant didn’t get to enjoy the rest inside the room because we were right next a very loud spot. And the parking was horrible off street not good for guest that travel by car but have no where to park unless they pay for valet which in your location valet should be free for the guess. Or at least have a parking garage for your guess.

Location! Convenient in downtown.

The rooms are relatively nice (not fabulous) for a “historic” hotel, but the building design is lacking. Their event venue, The Veranda, is just below the windows of the rooms on floors 2 and up. You may as well have the DJ in your room with you. There was a party with loud dance music until after 11pm. Our windows were shaking. Management seemed to be unaware of how loud it was in the upper rooms because inside the lobby, you couldn’t hear the music. After a long and exhausting day, our stay at The Sam was not relaxing at all.

The staff was nice…there was mold on the wall & a/c unit in the room we were assigned at first & it smelled like mold in that room but after speaking with the front desk clerk he apologized & immediately changed our room…the view from the 10th floor was really nice…

I didn’t expect there to be as many homeless people in the area…There’s no parking so basically you’re forced to use valet for 34$ plus tax…

When you charge $35/day for parking and your bar and restaurant are closed you need to have someone to run your guests short trips. Anyone would do it just for the tips !!! NEED TO TELL PEOPLE THE BAR AND RESTAURANT ARE CLOSED NOT TRY TO HIDE THE FACTS BY OMISSION

clean. and we loved the treatment we received from the staff. we’ll stay there again. walking was no convenient to Minute Maid. the young man that checked us in was so nice and friendly and helpful
