An amazing experience in this gorgeous hotel. I'll be back.

A really unique place oozing with charm. The location is perfect, the room and common areas are gorgeous, the staff was attentive and friendly. This is not just a place to spend the night, it's an experience in itself.

The bed was perhaps a little smaller and less comfortable than I'm used to for this class of hotels.

Great stay and we would definitely go there again!

Great service, and very comfortable venue with lots of cozy spaces. We enjoyed the sense of homeyness throughout our stay, and it was of course pretty awesome getting to have time with the house cat!

So many of the furnishings, towels, bathrobes and bedding were of very high quality. I could really tell that a lot of thought went into all the selections. My one problem was that I found the mattress way to firm for me. As a side sleeper, I needed a bit more give in order to be comfortable, and as a result I often woke with sore shoulders and hips in the morning.

Best of London!

Memorable stay thanks to the warm hospitality and great service by the staff. We mostly recommend this unique Victorian hotel

When booking the Josepth Smith room, take into account that the access to the bathroom is down the stairs.

A very comfortable hotel which feels like home.

Loved the cosy homely feel. Roaring fires, honesty bar, breakfast in bed, claw footed bath. The resident cat. Very friendly, welcoming staff. Good location, 2 mins walk from Farringdon station, so excellent underground links, especially the new Elizabeth Line.

Very traditional toilet with a high cistern - there is a knack to flushing it first time.

Exceptional

It’s a wonderful building, with a fabulous ambiance. The staff are great, the furnishings and bedrooms are terrific and along with Hazlitt’s on Frith Street, these are two of London’s best kept secrets.

blend of antique charm, impeccable service, and the cozy embrace of English aristocratic atmosphere

Introduction to London, the experience, and the aftertaste of our journey are inseparably linked to our stay at the Rookery hotel. Nestled away from the hustle and bustle of the big city, the hotel is housed in an ancient building in the central part of London. The interior of the hotel, antique furniture with a lingering pleasant scent of wood, paintings, busts, and a mini-library in each room with books published over 100 years ago immersed us in the atmosphere of English aristocracy. Attention to every detail of the decor and the provided service is palpable. Exceptionally attentive staff. The presentation and delivery of our orders deserve special mention. Enjoying our time in the library with a cup of tea by the fireplace alongside a well-mannered black cat became an unforgettable part of our journey.

A beautiful hotel with amazing character - highly recommended.

I love the Rookery. This is the second or third time I've stayed there. It's a hotel with lots of personality and character. The location was perfect for us - very near to Aldgate and Barbican Tube stations and you can easily walk into the City or into Islington. The rooms are beautifully furnished in a Georgian style and our bed was very comfortable. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. Everytime I stay in the Rookery it feels like a special occasion.

My only gripe is that, for the money, breakfast could be included in the price of the room.

It is an experience, a journey back in time to an era of refine elegance and impeccable service.

My recent six-night stay at this exquisite hotel was nothing short of remarkable, leaving me with an indelible impression of its unique character and the impeccable hospitality it extends. From the moment I stepped through the front door, I was enveloped in an atmosphere of refined elegance, reminiscent of a bygone era. The hotel's interiors exude a captivating blend of historical charm and contemporary comfort, with polished wooden floors, antique furnishings, and artwork adorning the walls. My room, a haven of plush comfort, was a symphony of textures and colors. The soft, draped curtains framed a view of the bustling city streets below, while the antique four-poster bed beckoned with its promise of restful slumber. Every detail, from the crisp linens to the well-stocked minibar, exuded an air of refined luxury. The hotel's location, in the heart of Farringdon, was simply ideal. Within a short stroll, I found myself immersed in the neighborhood's vibrant energy, surrounded by a diverse array of restaurants, cafes, and shops. The proximity to Farringdon Station provided effortless access to the rest of London, allowing me to seamlessly explore the city's iconic landmarks and hidden gems. The hotel's staff who truly elevated my stay to an exceptional level. Each member of the team exuded warmth, professionalism, and a genuine desire to ensure my utmost comfort. Their attentiveness to my needs was unparalleled, from arranging transportation to recommending local attractions.

Beautiful rooms, beautiful views

The property has so much character! The staff are lovely and they even have a cat, Bagheera, that they let me feed. This is my new favourite place in London and I will be back.

It would be great if breakfast were included.

Stay in London history in modern comfort.

What a wonderful hotel to stay at if you’re looking for something different than the typical hotel stay. Along with the lovely building and furniture there is a ton of history to learn and experience within the hotel itself. The staff is kind and helpful. Just a lovely place to be!

It’s not the most central location, but is so close to a tube station it’s easy to get around.

While we are tely not the target market, The Rookery is a lovely hotel in an excellent location.

The room was well appointed and quiet, which was very welcome given the hotel's location next to Smithfield Market! The bed was very comfortable and we were well supplied with pillows, towels, and all necessary equipment.

Whilst I understand the decision not to provide a kettle in the room, I certainly missed being able to make a tea or coffee without disturbing reception. However, when I did have to call down, the staff were exceptionally polite and accommodating.

Amazing place to experience!

Everything - the staff was just what you would expect out of a "period" boutique old style English hotel. The place itself was just gorgeous - like something almost out of a museum and yet also not too "stuffy" but much more cozy and warm, with fireplaces (with actual fire) and old books, "spirits" in a nice drawing type room and beautiful old paintings, busts and statuettes adorned throughout. The bellman (really more like an aide-de-camp to the front desk) was a nice bespectacled young fellow with manners seemingly bred from an English boarding school having the utmost respect towards the guests. The front desk had an old-fashioned sign-in type book, but really just for nostalgia - they still had the computer setup for booking so things were quite fast and efficient. Can't recommend this place enough ... and look for "Bagheera" the mascot "hotel cat" who lounges by the fireplace and is quite friendly to pet. I'll be back to try and book the top-shelf "Rook's Nest" someday!

Nothing - the place was amazing.
