HI Hostel Santa Monica, Los Angeles

very good location, very good breakfast, very clean place

comfy beds, really nice quality showers and washrooms. Open front door 24/7 is really nice. Staff are friendly and the common areas are very chilled and welcoming. Free breakfast was super yummy and helpful! Location of this hostel is 10/10 awesome! The convenient water bottle filling stations were a great point too.

Bedroom floor was very sandy when I arrived, and for most of my 2 day stay. Understandable given the proximity to the beach, but would've been nice to have it swept more often. Only really annoying thing was how my bed creaked so loudly every time I moved a muscle. Trying to get sorted for the day, late at night or early in the morning, I felt bad for the guy below me and the whole room, as the bed was super loud and creaky.

Perfect location and comfortable stay...

Really great place if you need to spend some time in Santa Monica! The common areas are spacious and clean, there is a large kitchen, some game areas, even a cozy fireplace! Rooms were adequate, with very big lockers, bathrooms and showers were also quite spacious and always kept clean. The bus from LAX stops less than 5 min away and the train to LA is about 10 min walk, the Pier is nearby and there are lots of bars and restaurants around, overall great location. I give it a 10 and would visit again if I have to fly through LAX and have to spend some time around.

Perfect place for solo traveler

Everything was clean and organised, the bathrooms are big, also the common areas. The bedroom is a good size for 8 people, and the lockers are big enough.

Only bad thing the bunk beds and lockers are all metal and VERY noisy (the slightest move makes noise and could wake your roommates)

The location and structure are great! Staff was really helpful. The shower was very nice.

The breakfast was worth the money with staff that were nice, and the food was enough. The location was spot on! Accessable to wherever you are going.

Guest not respecting the 10-7am quiet rule.

Very good location, good vibes inside, large kitchen to be shared by guests. Also they had some evening shows in some of the nights

Some dorms have sink, showers and toilets inside the room so it creates some noise

Location, cleanliness, staff , free breakfast

Amount of plastic used at breakfast covering nearly every item. This can easily be looked at.

The location was excellent and loved the breakfast, simple but good enough to get you out the door with a full tummy and ready to explore. The staff was great and it was an overall a great experience

The staff was very helpful. They were friendly and nice. I also liked the room. They were clean and every bad had a lamp and a power outlook. The kitchen and breakfast was really nice and it was just a 10 minute walk to the Santa Monica pier. I would definitely come here again

Would be nice to have a small bathroom in the room. But it was completely fine how it was, since the the bathroom was right outside my door

Excellent location with one of the best hostel breakfast I’ve had and I’ve stayed at many hostels. Bathroom and shower facilities were also good, plenty of showers and toilets, all very clean.

You’re not allowed alcohol on-site but we knew that before booking so wasn’t an issue for us.

2nd time I stayed here, and it's a great option to explore Santa Monica and wider LA area, without having to break the bank. The hostel has done a good job of catering to travellers and keeping the riff-raff out. There are people visiting from all over the world and from all walks of life, and it's easy to connect. The free breakfast is a nice add-on, but the coffee needs improvement. Also, easy to reach by bus from LAX or take the metro into town.

Compared to other countries, the hostel is relatively costly.

We were able to check in early and use the facilities after check out (kitchen etc.).

Bathrooms are being cleaned around 9am, when a lot of people want to use them. Maybe not the best timing.

Everything is perfect. Huge kitchen, fire place, location, accessible showers and cleanless, free breskfast with full of food.It has TV room and library and bilardo place. It is an A+
