TOC Hostel, Madrid

Great place to discover Madrid´s City Center. Many sights like the Palace and the Plaza Mayor are close by. Friendly staff, tidy and save place.

Towels have not been changed, we had to ask at the reception for new ones.

Location was good and really nice that there is some what a proper kitchen. Common areas were spacious and nice.

Wi-Fi barely working (many reviews about this but still not fixed). Beds are lacking privacy- if curtains would be installed that would be awesome if not, at least make the “privacy wall” a bit longer. It would be great if guests were asked to bring back rented towels as now they are left on the hangers in bathroom and housekeeping does not take them away because they have no way of knowing whose are they. Kitchen could use a cutting knife.

the location was excellent, center of everything, a perfect point for cab pick ups.

Bathrooms need to have locks, esp as there are other people in the room. Also the safety boxes provided were not operational.

Location was perfect, just off Grande Via. Our twin room was very comfortable and clean. The bathroom is tiny but fine.

the housekeeping staff was on their game. front desk was friendly and quick to help out.

I recommend you all look at the floors of your showers. I almost slipped a few times. One day someone is going to hurt themselves badly and TOC will be put out of business. :( Safety should be a priority at all hotels and hostels. Don't worry I will come back but I hope when I do the issue will be fixed across all your TOC hotels.

Perfect for one nght stay

Excellent location, very clean, great facilities. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Beautiful building, nicely organised rooms.

Security- I find using fingerprints for hostel/room access outrageous. This is very private data that should not be collected in such a way; I almost turned back at the point when I realised that my fingerprint would be required. They offer no privacy policy or any assurance in regards data security. Bathroom was nice and clean but why on Earth there is no space to leave clothes or at least a hook, bench…anything. Basically, you need to walk out from the shower wrapped up in a towel, which they charge 2$, by the way, as there is nowhere to hang the clothes or even the towel inside the shower space. Too expensive.

Amazing location, clean, friendly staff, more like a hotel than a hostel . The lovely staff member allowed me to check in early 730am which was so appreciated.

The hostel was on a great location, just in the city center. The shared room was clean and the good value. The breakfast was great. Also the fingerprint key was something I didn't experience before, very convenient.

We had our own bathroom but the shower was in a shared space of our room (the hallway with lockers) and the door was semitransparent, which is a little bit inconvenient if the mixed gender people are inside. Also we didn't have wifi most of the time on the 6th floor.

Our room was on the first floor which did not have access to the elevator. The room was also next to the staff room which was frequently accessed throughout the night so we were awoken by slamming doors. WiFi rarely worked in our room too

I needed to leave 3 luggages in the luggage room for just one night and I was charged for this, even though I was coming back to stay one more night the day after.

Elevator doesnt go to the 1st floor and there is no concierge as advertized so if you have a lot of luggage, you're going to suffer

This was my fourth multi-day stay at TOC Hostel & Suites in Madrid, Spain. It's absolutely one of the best hostels anywhere, and if you reserve a few months in advance you will pay much less than if you wait until the last night. Check-in upon arrival is fast, and after you scan your fingerprint or get a plastic magnetic card to open the door to your room, you find a simple room with comfortable bunk-beds, air-conditioning and soundproof windows. Breakfasts are available for 10€ per person, but I chose to go out to eat. The grand hostel is palatial with some of the main rooms having painted murals on the ceilings, classic plaster cornices and outside views. The hostel is in a safe area with many tourists and residents, convenient shops, tapas bars, fast food restaurants, and only a two minute walk to the Puerta del Sol metro stop. Everything is good at TOC.

The location is perfect, everything is super close, Plaza Mayor, Palacio Real, Gran Vía, you name it. 5 mins from metro Sol, so you can get anywhere in Madrid, train station Atocha is pretty close as well. Air conditioner works great, temperature in the room is comfortable. In the kitchen everything is always in order, you can leave your food in the fridge there. After check-out it’s possible to leave your bags at the reception and go explore the city if your flight is later this day. There are lockers in the rooms, but you need to have your own lock or get one at the reception. There are safe deposit boxes in the room as well. And of course these finger print locks are amazing, so you don’t need to worry about losing a key/card.

Doors in the bathroom/toilet don’t have locks, but I don’t think it’s a big problem (doors can still be shut, and no one really tries to enter when it’s occupied)
